Tourism Mentorship Programs Welcoming Applicants

Public Service Announcement

YELLOWKNIFE (October 19, 2016) – Two tourism mentorship programs are now accepting applications from Northwest Territories (NWT) residents interested in gaining insight and experience in the tourism industry.

The Youth Mentorship for Tourism Program and Tourism Business Mentorship Program are provided through the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) and offer training opportunities for students, young professionals, and those new to the tourism industry.

The number of visitors to the NWT and visitor spending both reached all-time highs in the 2015-16 fiscal year. As this sector continues to grow, it is important that the territory has a well-trained and knowledgeable workforce to support it.

The application deadline for the Tourism Business Mentorship Program is December 16, 2016. Intake for applications for the Youth Mentorship in Tourism Program is on-going until January 31, 2017.

Investments in tourism mentorship programs support GNWT commitments to advance diversity in the NWT economy and support education, training and youth development.
