Time to Celebrate Small Businesses in the NWT

News Releases

October 18, 2011 - This is Small Business Week (Oct. 16-22). Time to celebrate the achievements of entrepreneurs and small businesses in the NWT and Canada.

In Inuvik, residents are invited to a presentation on the business funding programs offered by the GNWT’s Department of Industry Tourism and Investment (ITI). The presentation will take place at the Ingamo Hall Friendship Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 2 – 4 p.m.

Attendees will have an opportunity to speak with staff and ask questions about funding types and the application process. Refreshments will be available and door prizes will be awarded.

Through programs like the Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) Policy, and organizations such as the Community Futures Development Corporations and the NWT Business Development and Investment Corporation, the GNWT supports small businesses in the NWT and is committed to helping them succeed.

Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the Canadian economy, comprising over 95 percent of businesses across the country and employing nearly half of the Canadian labour force.
