YELLOWKNIFE (October 2, 2015) – Minister of Health and Social Services Glen Abernethy has named Jim Antoine as Chairperson-Designate of the proposed Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Territorial Leadership Council.

A former NWT Premier and current Public Administrator for the Deh Cho Health and Social Services Authority, Antoine brings a wealth of experience to the NWT Health and Social Services system. He has also served as Chief of the Liidlii Kue First Nation on four separate occasions and Grand Chief of the Deh Cho First Nation.

“Mr. Antoine’s qualifications and experience make him ideally suited to oversee the important next steps that the NWT Health and Social Services system will take in the coming months to transform the way health and social services are governed across the NWT,” Minister Abernethy noted.

Antoine will be providing guidance and leadership in the development of the NWT Health and Social Services Territorial Leadership Council and the Territorial Health and Social Services Authority in preparation of Bill 44: An Act to Amend the Hospital Insurance and Health and Social Services Administration Act in the Legislative Assembly, coming into force in April 2016.
