YELLOWKNIFE (May 2, 2016) – Today, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) begins negotiation of a new collective agreement with the Northwest Territories Teachers’ Association (NWTTA).
The GNWT’s initial proposals focus on:
- improving mental health in the workplace;
- recruitment and retention strategies;
- establishing a framework for the Alternative School Year; and
- teacher time and workload.
The GNWT is committed to meaningful collective bargaining to achieve the outcome of sustainable public services for Northerners. The GNWT will be accountable and transparent throughout the bargaining process, with proposals and updates available to the public on the GNWT website at http://www.hr.gov.nt.ca/.
