Number of Occurrences

This species is known from 4 locality records in the Northwest Territories: Aklavik, Norman Wells, Wrigley, and Fort Liard (all localities inferred from distribution map (fig. 2408) in Griffiths (2001)). In addition, although there is little and imprecise information on this species’ biology, this species has been collected in multiple different habitats: cities, forests, spruce bogs, marshes, grasslands, mountain meadows, low arctic tundra, and floodplain communities in the prairie zone (Griffiths 2001). This species is therefore likely to be found more prevalently throughout the territory. As such, a wide range was selected: 6- >300.

Status Rank Description:
A gap in the data is making this species appear vulnerable, when there is no indication that this is the case. Gaps in the taxonomic record do not represent real gaps and likely reflect a lack of collection effort. This species is likely more widespread in the territory (see occurrences) and there is likely to be input from neighboring regions as it is found in YT, BC, AB (Griffiths 2001). Therefore this species is unlikely to be vulnerable. Despite limited records (4), this species could be more prevalent and widespread in the Northwest Territories than records would suggest (see occurrences). Nonetheless, given gaps in the data and information known about the species, a conservative assessment would put this species at secure to apparently secure in the Northwest Territories, since although there is no indication that this species is under any threat, it is possible.
