Distribution

The minimum area polygon for this species in the Northwest Territories based on locality records is approximately 60,000 km sq. Range F was selected.
Score:
F

Number of Occurrences

This species is known from 5 locality records in the Northwest Territories: Aklavik, Reindeer Station (formerly Reindeer Depot), Granet Lake (Griffiths 1998), Fort McPherson, and Colville Lake (localities inferred from distribution map (fig 2281) in Griffiths (1998)). In addition, this species is present in the low arctic and alpine area and therefore is likely to be more widespread in the territory than just in the north. As well, this species is also present in surrounding regions (YT, BC, AB) (Griffiths 1998), so external input could be expected. Hence a wide range was selected: 6->300.

Status Rank Description:
Despite limited records (5), this species could be more prevalent than records would suggest (see occurrences). Nonetheless, because this species is only present in the north of the territory and there is little knowledge og this species’ life history (Griffiths 1998), a conservative assessment would put this species at secure to vulnerable in the Northwest Territories, since although there is no indication that this species is under any threat, it is possible.
