Number of Occurrences

There are 7 locality records for this species in the Northwest Territories: Hay River, Alexandra Falls, Yellowknife (Huckett 1965), localities at or near: Sawmill Bay, Norman Wells, Wrigley, and Fort Smith (latter localities inferred from distribution map (fig. 2349) in Griffiths (1998)). In addition, this species is widespread in the boreal and subarctic zones and present in neighboring regions- Yukon Territory, British Columbia, Alberta (Griffiths 1998). As such, this species is likely more widespread and prevalent than these records suggest. A wide range was selected: 6->300.

Status Rank Description:
A gap in the data is making this species appear vulnerable, when there is no indication that this is the case. Gaps in the taxonomic record do not represent real gaps and likely reflect a lack of collection effort. This species is likely more widespread and prevalent in the territory (see occurrences). Therefore this species is unlikely to be vulnerable. Despite limited records, this species could be more widespread prevalent in the territory than records would suggest (see occurrences). Nonetheless, given gaps in the data and information known about the species in the Northwest Territories, a conservative assessment would put this species at secure to apparently secure, since although there is no indication that this species is under any threat, it is possible.
