YELLOWKNIFE (May 18, 2016) The Government of the Northwest Territories is asking for your participation in developing a recreation management plan for the Yellowknife periphery area.
This work builds on previous public engagements and surveys completed as part of the Recreational Land Management Framework development to date and will narrow in on Yellowknife area recreational opportunities and activities.
The final plan for the Yellowknife periphery area will provide direction and guidance to the GNWT for the management of outdoor recreation resources and opportunities in the area, in a way that is transparent, consistent and reflects public values. This helps meet the GNWT’s commitment to improve coordination, and effectiveness in resource management systems, recognizing traditional knowledge, land claim agreements and devolution.
“As part of my commitment to development of the Recreation Land Management Framework, we promised to take a planned approach to recreation management in the Yellowknife area. Once completed, this recreational management plan for the Yellowknife periphery area will include identifying future opportunities and areas for new cabin leases next year.”
