General Biology

Female Age at Maturity

Males are mature from late July to October, females from August to November. Wiehle (1931) collected specimens from fir and pine trees at heights of 50-80 cm above the ground; he inferred these individuals to have matured in a single summer after they overwintered as tiny hatchlings in the egg sac (in Dondale et al. 2003).
Habitat
Frequent in tall grass and shrubs in meadows and marshes, but are sometimes found in open forests.
