Habitat
On soil rich in humus, in tundras, and in bogs among mosses, primarily a boreal forest lichen, most characteristically growing on talus slopes between boulders and on rocky ground, although sometimes in wetter sites, as well. Cape Bathurst specimen from raised edges of frost polygon bordering wet sedge meadow, growing in association with Arctagrostis latifolia.
