Longevity

Extremly long life-span, of a year or more. Newly emerged females do not seek blood in first summer, spend live in torpid condition, eastivating or hibernating, earliest to seek bood following spring, before snow has disappeared.. Later seeking blood for their 2nd or 3rd ovarian cycles, …overlapping with their own progeny. With Culiseta alaskaensis appear to be the only species with this type of life cycle in Canada.
