Female Age at Maturity

Kaston (1948) states that the spider winters in the penultimate or antepenultimate instar, and is mature from mid-May to summer. Wiehle (1931) stated that May is the month when most individuals are mature in Germany, and that the young begin to appear at the end of June (in Dondale et al. 2003).
Habitat
Understory of coniferous or mixed forests. Egg sacs are fastened to dead twigs or under leaves near the web (Dondale et al. 2003).

Alaska to Newfoundland, south to Baja California, Guatemala, and Virginia; Europe and Asia. In the NWT, the species is known from Fort Simpson and Fort Smith (Dondale et al. 2003, GBIF).

Only two occurrences have been reported from the NWT to date; one at Fort Simpson (Dondale et al. 2003) and one at Fort Smith (GBIF).
