General distribution Palaearctic. Nearctic records require confirmation (the NWT is the only Nearctic jurisdiction with a record of this species). Christiansen & Bellinger (1981, 1998) and Bretfeld (1999) believed that Nearctic records of this Palaearctic form probably belong to H. dreisbachi (Snider, 1969) (in Babenko et al. 2019).
