adults = in deep lakes and large, cool rivers spawning = in shallow bays of lakes over sand or gravel or in rivers. Also found in marine habitat(B011, BSC5).Env:demersal; potamodromous; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 7.5; dH range:18.0; depth range 1-700m. Clim:temperate; 4-18°C; 78°N-40°N, 180°W-180°E. Smaller individuals feed on insect larvae, crayfish, mollusks and other invertebrates with a changing preference for fishes in larger individuals(W017)
