Ecology (Lindroth 1961-1969): "The original habitat of this species seems to be the margins of snowfields north and above timber limit but it follows rivers and big brooks with cold water, in particular glacier outflows, deep down into the forest region. It keeps quite close to the waters edge, usually on barren banks".

Aklavik, Ft Smith, Granet Lake, Kazan River, MacKay Lake, Perry River, NU Balcklead Is, Pang, Southampton isl, Aberdeen Lake, baker Lake, Yathkyed Lake; only 1 databased record found. Occurrences unknown (not available from any literature or data sources). Only Aklavik, Fort Smith, and MacKay Lake are found to be attributable to NT, which covers an area of ~300,000 km2 in NT. All other records listed for NT actually from Nunavut. For example, distribution (Lindroth 1961-1969): "Transamerican in high latitudes, the most northerly of all Nebrias... N.W.Terr. Scattered localities on the tundra from Aklavik (CAS) to Coral Harbour, Southampton Isl. (DAO). Labr. 4 loc. W of Ungava Bay, S to B. Payne, 10.VII.48 (Bou., UMM). S Baffin Land. 3 loc. (DAO, MCZ, NMW)... Circumpolar in the high north, W to Scandinavia and Scotland. Erroneously recorded from Greenland." Only Aklavik locality can be attributed to NT. From Kavanaugh (1978), also many from NU, but the following from NT: Aklavik, Fort Smith, MacKay Lake.
