One rare location in NWT in Sibley 2003 Field Guide to Birds of Western North America1996 Checklist - Vagrant in Western Cordillera; Accidental in NNPR (Deadmen Valley) and near Slave River (BEM); Two reports. Eaton (1948) reported 5 Black-throated Green Warblers on a trip along the Slave River on 1-8 July 1940 between Fort Fitzgerald, AB and Grand Detour, NWT. Although the specific location(s) are not given, about three-quarters of this 80 km stretch of river are located in the NWT. There are several recent records of this species from the Fort Chipewyan area, only 120 km south of the NWT border (eBird 2012). David Henry observed a Black-throated Green Warbler just west of Sheaf Creek in Deadmen Valley in Nahanni NPR on 29 June and 2 July 1976. The bird’s song was recorded and comparisons to other recordings supported the identification (Scotter et al. 1985). References: Eaton, E.A. 1948.
