This July, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources hosted a three-day training workshop for Project Wet, an international program designed to give teachers and other educators the tools (through a workshop and manual) to include water and environmental education in classrooms and other programs.

Participants came to Yellowknife from the Northwest Territories (NWT), Yukon, Nunavut, Alberta and Saskatchewan to be trained as Project Wet facilitators. These facilitators can now run further training workshops for other educators in the NWT.

The three days were busy. Participants learned presentation tips on how to find, engage and manage audiences. They also learned how to plan a workshop. Five water experts spoke about water quality, water quantity, transboundary waters, contamination and climate change. Best of all, participants had fun practicing some of the more than 120 preformatted activities in the Project Wet Manual.
