Nov 27, 2018 Email from Kristin Moore-Mike Martin talked to Tim Morton about a month ago regarding this spill (2018311) and I know that Mike is no longer in that position. Just before Mike left his position, he gave me your contact to follow up with regarding the status of the spill. The spill occurred on GNWT land not federal land therefore the GNWT is the lead agency for this spill and the responsible owner to close the spill out. As you can see from the report, the spill is cleaned up and there are no outstanding items. December 14,2018 Email from Laurel McDonald-Good afternoon, I just spoke with Denis, the manager at Sahtu Helicoptors here in NWells regarding the spill: There were no samples taken out at the spill site. The used spill pads, contaminated moss and soil are packaged up and being stored in their hanger here in NWells. Sahtu Helicopters environment division will be taking care of getting the contaminated waste to a licensed facility during the winter road season. I have requested him to provide the dates of transportation(manifests to be provided) and the licensed facility the waste is being taken too. Denis will provide pictures of where and what containers the waste is being stored in. He will also provide the manifests from when the spill happened out at the spill site. Once I receive all this information I will go into the spill data base and update it and then close it. March 25, 2019 Email from Jonathon Talon(Denis is no longer employed at GSH)-As discussed on the phone today, attached is a picture of the containment of the soil. It is being kept in two 5 gallon buckets. We will be getting our manifest to you indicating the DG being moved from Norman Wells to Yellowknife where it will be disposed of at the KBL site. April 3, 2019 Email from Jonathon Talon-Attached are the documents showing the transportation of the material as well as the Bill of Lading from KBL for the discarded materials. Thanks, and if you need anything else please don’t hesitate to contact me!
