Mr. Speaker, I rise to inform Members that later today, I will table a document titled GNWT Response to Standing Committee on Government Operations CR 1-16(6): Report on the Review of the Report of the Auditor General on the Northwest Territories Deh Cho Bridge Project – 2011.
August 24, 2011 - The Minister of ITI Bob McLeod has been busy promoting the NWT over the last four years. Through various partnerships, the GNWT has been able to launch a wide variety of program that showcase the beauty of the NWT, educate investors on the potential of our mineral and petroleum resources, and take steps into helping local business be more competitive with online programs like BizPal.
August 24, 2011 - The Minister of Education, Culture and Employment informs the House of its ongoing research into the Student Financial Assistance program and how well it is benefitting students seeking to further their post-secondary education. This ties into the Memorandum of Understanding signed between all three Territories exploring various models for Northern universities.
August 24, 2011 - Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Michael Miltenberger details the advances the GNWT has made towards building an environment that will sustain present and future generations.
Mr. Speaker, as we move into the last session of the 16th Legislative Assembly, I would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the significant progress this legislature has made toward achieving its goal of “an environment that will sustain present and future generations”.

August 19, 2011 - The Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs Robert McLeod congratulates the communities of Fort Smith and Déline for performing admirably during their emergency situations this past year. The minister emphasizes how important it is to have trained people in the communities to deal with these types of emergency situations: knowing what to do will save lives.
Mr. Speaker, today I would like to speak about the importance of community emergency training and preparedness.
August 19, 2011 - Minister of Education, Culture and Employment Jackson Lafferty speaks on the Aboriginal Student Achievement Awards, the importance of having early childhood education and the support from all levels of the community throughout the entire education process to ensure Aboriginal children's healthy development.
August 19, 2011 - Premier Floyd Roland speaks about the benefits of working with all walks of life, especially the youth, while building the 'Forging our Future' report.
Mr. Speaker, in July 2009, the Northern Leaders’ Forum was created as a means for all leaders in the NWT to work collectively to advance the interests of our Territory and its residents.
August 18, 2011 - Minister of Education, Culture and Employment Jackson Lafferty highlights some of the details in the plans to improve the use of Aboriginal languages through both Government and non-government means. The Minister also speaks about how the GNWT is planning on improving the use of French through services provided by the Government.
August 18, 2011 - The Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs congratulates the excellent job done by the NWT's athletes and coaches at the 2011 Western Canada Games held in Kamloops BC.
Mr. Speaker, it is my pleasure today to provide Members of the Legislative Assembly with an update on the Northwest Territories’ Team that attended the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games that were hosted by the City of Kamloops, British Columbia, from August 5th to August 14th.
