Caroline Wawzonek, Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance and Infrastructure, and Sahtu MLA Danny McNeely issued the following statement today in response to Imperial Oil’s announcement to temporarily reduce the price of home heating fuel in Norman Wells.
Health and Social Services Minister Lesa Semmler tabled the 2023-2024 Annual Report of the Director of Child and Family Services (CFS) in the Legislative Assembly earlier today.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is donating $150,000 to the Norman Wells food bank to support residents facing rising costs.

Senior Home Heating Subsidy rates have been increased for subsidy recipients age 60 and over in Norman Wells, in recognition of the rising cost of home heating fuel.
The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is advising the public that planned maintenance work by NorthwesTel will temporarily impact all voice, internet, and cellular services – including 9-1-1 – in Kakisa, Enterprise, Fort Resolution, Fort Smith, and Hay River.
