FORT PROVIDENCE (August 17, 2012) – Catherine Beaulieu Bouvier Lamoureux will be celebrated as a National Historic Person this weekend.
Ms. Lamoureux is the first NWT woman to receive this designation from the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.

IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 27, 2012) - Territorial Premiers met in Iqaluit for the 10th Annual Northern Premiers’ Forum on June 26 and 27 to continue to implement their shared vision of a stronger North and a better Canada.
Premiers noted that A Northern Vision: A Stronger North and a Better Canada, released in 2007, continues to guide their pan-territorial approach to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable North that will benefit northerners and all Canadians.

Homes should be places where strong individuals and families support and love each other. All people have the right to live free from the fear of violence in their own homes and communities.
June 14, 2012 - Mr. Speaker, I want to take a moment before we all leave for the summer to reflect on our accomplishments as a Legislative Assembly over the past few weeks.
This has been the first, extended working Session of the 17th Assembly. It has been a long Session, especially at this time of the year, but we have done some important work together.
June 14, 2012 - Mr. Speaker, on June 21st, we will celebrate National Aboriginal Day. This is an opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal people’s outstanding contributions to the history, languages, arts and cultures of our Territory and Canada.
Mr. Speaker, I would like to invite my colleagues to join me in congratulating the recipients of the 2012 Premier’s Awards. The Premier’s Awards for Excellence and the Premier’s Collaboration Award are presented annually to individuals and teams for their outstanding service to the Government of the Northwest Territories. As well, I am pleased to confirm the second Dave Ramsden Career Achievement Award was presented.
YELLOWKNIFE (June 8, 2012) – Premier Bob McLeod will honour 80 recipients and several organizations with Premier’s Awards for Excellence and Collaboration. The ceremony will be held in the Great Hall of the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
June 8, 2012 - Mr. Speaker, later today I will table a document that represents a major step toward fulfilling the 17th Legislative Assembly’s priority of building a strong and sustainable future for our Territory by strengthening our relationships with Aboriginal governments.
