August 24, 2011 - After successful launches in Ontario, Quebec and universities nationwide, yesterday the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) will launch the next phase of the Come Make Your Mark national marketing campaign – this time in Atlantic Canada.
Come Make Your Mark is a national marketing and awareness campaign aimed at attracting residents of select regional jurisdictions across Canada to move to the NWT to live and work long-term. The campaign was first rolled out in northern Ontario in April 2010 and was launched in the fall in universities across Canada. This past spring, the campaign also launched in Quebec and had an overwhelmingly positive response.
The campaign’s launch coincides with the 144th Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) in St. John’s, Newfoundland – doubly significant as the next CMA Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held in Yellowknife in the summer of 2012.
“Medical professionals are in particularly high demand across the Northwest Territories, and this makes the CMA Annual General Meeting a perfect setting to launch the next phase of Come Make Your Mark,” said Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod. “This national marketing campaign is critical in addressing our territory’s labour shortage, and we hope that CMA members, as well as other residents of the Atlantic provinces, choose to move here and experience the limitless job and lifestyle opportunities available in the Northwest Territories.”
Following Come Make Your Mark’s introduction in Newfoundland, the campaign will launch in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick on August 29th.
Come Make Your Mark supports the 16th Legislative Assembly’s Maximizing Opportunities strategic initiative, which focuses on ensuring the NWT economy is balanced, diversified and sustainable.
