BizPal Speeds up Processes for Businesses in Fort Simpson

Communiqués de presse

June 7, 2011 - Starting and running a business in the Village of Fort Simpson has become easier thanks to BizPaL, an online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork.

BizPaL is an innovative service that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to information on the permits and licences they need to establish and run their businesses.  BizPal is currently running in Fort Smith and Hay River, as well as Fort Simpson. Eventually all NWT residents will be able to use the system to assist with their small business.

“Small businesses in the Northwest Territories are the backbone of our economy and offer diversified employment across the territory” said Minister Bob McLeod. “With easy access to the information they need to start or expand their businesses, this innovative service will allow more time for prospective entrepreneurs to take care of business.”

“Fort Simpson is a small community that is supportive and proud of its vibrant local business sector.  In a community of 1,250 there are over 100 registered businesses and it is important to assist both current and future residents to make the right decisions when planning their start-up” said Mr. Sean Whelly, Mayor of Fort Simpson. “BizPal will be a great tool to promote business in Fort Simpson, by putting all the necessary regulatory and licensing information in one easy to access website.”

The release and continued support of BizPal in communities across the NWT is one part of the GNWT’s efforts to foster sustainable, vibrant communities and a diversified economy that provides all regions and communities with choices as envisioned by the 16th Legislative Assembly in Northerners Working Together.

Area business owners and entrepreneurs can access the new BizPaL services by visiting the Village’s website at www.fortsimpson.com
