DOT Expands Online Services

Communiqués de presse

YELLOWKNIFE (May 9, 2014) – Minister of Transportation Tom Beaulieu announced today that drivers, commercial carriers and organizations in the NWT can now access several new online driver and motor vehicle services.

Through the Department of Transportation (DOT) online driver and motor vehicle services, NWT residents can now:

  • Renew, reprint, or cancel a vehicle registration;
  • Book, reschedule or cancel a driver examination; and
  • Print replacement documents including receipts, NWT vehicle registration certificates, examination bookings, commercial registration permits, single trip permits and annual permits.

NWT residents who have never had a driver’s licence, general identification card or a vehicle registered to them in the NWT can also now create an online account to book a driver examination.

“Improving access to programs and services is a priority for the Government of the Northwest Territories,” said Minister Beaulieu. “Expanding online driver and motor vehicle services is part of our government’s Service Innovation Strategy, which will promote effective and efficient government by connecting NWT residents and businesses with the information and services they need.”

The new online resources are in addition to the e-notifications the DOT already offers, which allow users to receive email reminders about:

  • Expiring driver’s licences, general identification cards or vehicle registrations;
  • Scheduled driver examinations;
  • Driver medical renewals; and
  • Alerts for commercial carriers.
