YELLOWKNIFE (June 20, 2012) -- The GNWT has renewed its funding for the Tourism Product Diversification and Marketing Program to support tourism businesses in the NWT seeking to become more competitive in a demanding international market.

As the global demand for outdoor adventure vacations and experiences grows, this program administered by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) provides financial assistance to tourism operators for business planning, product and packaging development, and marketing.

“Tourism is the NWT’s largest renewable resource – one that has potential to impact all of the NWT’s 33 communities,” said Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment David Ramsay. “Our continuing investment in this sector reflects not only its success to date, but the recognition that we must continually expand, adapt and grow our unique and spectacular tourism product.”

Interested NWT tourism businesses have until July 9th to apply for funding under the program. New guidelines and application forms can be found online at ITI’s website or are available at any one of ITI’s five regional offices.

This program provides ongoing support for small business and tourism, and strengthens and diversifies the NWT economy, one of the priorities of the 17th Legislative Assembly.
