August 22, 2011 - The Health Status Report has been released by Health and Social Services Minister J. Michael Miltenberger. The report provides an insight into the health and well-being of the Northwest Territories population.
“A goal within the Health and Social Services Action Plan A Foundation for Change is to promote healthy living and wellness. To do this, we must have insight into the health of our residents so we can implement preventative strategies and provide education to avoid unhealthy behaviours and disease. Evidence from this report form the basis of our programs and influence our decision making and program development for the future,” Miltenberger said.
Health Status informs people about the well-being and health of the general public and its results provide insight into the challenges and opportunities that exist along the road to healthy living.
The Report is published every five years. The last report of 2005 focused on describing health conditions over time and it compares the health of small communities, regional centres and Yellowknife.
Electronic copies of the latest Health Status Report can be found on the Department of Health and Social Services website here.
