Outstanding Volunteers for 2014 Honoured

YELLOWKNIFE (May 13, 2014) – Minister of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) Robert C. McLeod recognized Northwest Territories (NWT) volunteers at the 2014 Outstanding Volunteer Award ceremony in Inuvik on May 9, 2014. These annual awards provide an opportunity to recognize volunteers and volunteer organizations for their outstanding contributions in communities across the territory.

“Supporting and recognizing volunteers across the NWT is an important part of maintaining a sustainable volunteer presence in our communities,” said Minister McLeod. “MACA and our partner, the NWT Association of Communities, are always happy to recognize those who selflessly devote their time and effort to the betterment of their communities through volunteerism.”

Recipients of the 2014 NWT Outstanding Volunteer Awards are:

  • Outstanding Elder Awards: Edward Oudzi, Norman Wells; Margaret Miller, Inuvik
  • Outstanding Youth Award: Thomas Norbert, Tsiigehtchic
  • Outstanding Individual Award: David Taylor, Yellowknife
  • Outstanding Group Award: NWT SPCA, Yellowknife
