Forests play an important role in the well-being of all organisms, from the smallest microscopic organism in the soil to humans to the largest grizzly bear
Globally, forests are habitat to 80% of our terrestrial biodiversity, home to 300 million people and cover 31% of total land area. In the Northwest Territories, our boreal forest is breeding grounds for more than 200 bird species, home to 29 communities and comprises 17% of Canada’s boreal forest.
