Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and congratulations on the conclusion of what I understand has been productive information sharing, and celebration of Canada’s fur trade.
Mr. Speaker, the Northwest Territories has a centuries-long history in trapping and the fur trade.
Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has made a commitment in its Mandate to finalize and implement the Commercial Fisheries Revitalization Strategy.
Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has made a commitment in its Mandate to develop and implement an Agriculture Strategy to increase domestic food production, improve distribution networks for NWT-produced foods and to increase producer and supplier opportunities.
Mr. Speaker, it has been 25 years since Charles Fipke and his team discovered diamonds near Lac de Gras and brought the largest mineral rush in decades to our North.
This year, our diamond mines surpassed $50 billion in total mineral value produced in these 25 years.
Mr. Speaker, the Government of the Northwest Territories has made a commitment in its Mandate to build partnerships to support, among other things, culturally-based tourism.
