Communiqué
YELLOWKNIFE (September 25, 2015) – Members of Cabinet of the 17th Legislative Assembly and the Akaitcho Dene First Nation met in Yellowknife on September 23, 2015.
This meeting was an opportunity for collaborative discussion and agreement to work together on shared interest. During this meeting the parties agreed to undertake the following work:
- Working collaboratively to discuss a Bathurst Caribou Management Plan
- Additional discussions on Cassidy Point and the interim land withdrawal process
- Providing Devolution information sessions if requested by First Nations
- Follow up discussions on Jolliffe Island
The meeting also focused on areas of mutual interest, including:
- Health Care Reform
- Housing
- Fiscal Update
- Murdered and Missing Aboriginal Women and Girls
- Aboriginal Children in Care
