YELLOWKNIFE (September 30, 2015) – The Department of Health and Social Services is encouraging NWT residents to talk about organ and tissue donation with their families. The “Life is Sacred – Become a Donor” campaign aims to raise awareness in the NWT about organ and tissue donation.
As part of the awareness campaign, the Department released today an inspiring video telling the story of the Hardy family’s experience with organ donation after losing their son, Josh. The video, made in conjunction with Canadian Blood Services, aims to encourage residents to speak to their loved ones about being an organ donor.
“Organ and tissue donation is a very sensitive and difficult topic to discuss, but it is so important. Becoming a donor can help save or improve the lives of many other people,” said Minister of Health and Social Services Glen Abernethy.
