Are you interested in providing hemodialysis and providing care to those receiving treatment for renal disease? Ready to be part of an integrated health care team that works closely with Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners on an established patient load? Our shift schedule includes no night shifts and Sundays off to enjoy a work/life balance routine.  Join our strong established dialysis team as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), working in the Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife, NT. 

As an LPN in Dialysis, you will deliver direct patient care and make independent day-to-day decisions regarding individual nursing care plans based on standing orders. You will also assist with the Inpatient or Outpatient Care areas and provide culturally sensitive care to patients living with renal disease and who require hemodialysis.

Key Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care to patients using a problem-solving approach to facilitate individualized nursing care to patients of the Dialysis Unit

- Facilitates implements and modifies patient and family education/teaching based on the needs of the patient.

- Advocates practice environments that have the organizational and human support systems, and the resource allocations necessary for safe, competent and ethical nursing care.

Key Qualifications and Skills
- Successful completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing Diploma
- Hemodialysis training from a hospital approved course 
- One year of directly related experience in a healthcare setting 
- Knowledge in nephrology (the study of diseases and disorders of the kidney); ability to share this information to both patients and caregivers.
- Knowledge of and an ability to operate, calibrate and clean the dialysis specific tools and machines required during the dialysis of patients (i.e. including but not limited to the dialysis machines, water purification system, artificial kidneys, pumps, etc.).

Labour Market Supplement

The successful incumbent will receive a $10,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $10,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months.   This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions

Shift Work

This position involves a Rotating/Irregular Shift Schedule which may change due to operational requirements.
