Job Summary
Department Information
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
Job Information
The Department of Finance is seeking a Research and Communications Analyst to support the collection, analysis, and dissemination of statistical information used to inform policy, planning, and the monitoring of socio-economic conditions across the Northwest Territories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to statistical data requests,
- Gathering and analyzing information from a variety of sources, and
- Developing clear, accurate dissemination products for the NWT Bureau of Statistics.
Key Qualifications:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics or a related discipline and 1 year of experience in a research or statistical environment.
Equivalencies:
- Completion of a Master's in Statistics or a related discipline and 1 year of experience in a research or statistical environment.
- Completion of a College/University Diploma in Statistics or a related discipline and 3 years of experience in research or statistical environment.
- All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Related disciplines can include, but not limited to:
- Business Administration
- Data Science
- Applied Mathematics
- Computer Science

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $42.17 per hour to $50.36 per hour (approximately $82,232 - $98,202) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
