Job Information

This position reports to the Regional Manager of Allied Health Services and assists with collection of statistics and the need for supplies, equipment and resources. In this role, you will perform a range of diagnostic services, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, phlebotomy, specimen processing, x-ray imaging, and electrocardiographs. You will ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results and provide standby coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

- Working knowledge of Laboratory Technologies and Principles, and Standards of Practice including venipuncture, ECG, medical terminology and the ability to operate and understand complex laboratory instrumentation in order to provide direct hands on laboratory services, provide direction and leadership to Technicians, and in order to analyze and interpret results to aid medical and nonmedical professionals in the diagnosis, treatment and management of disease.
- A working knowledge of Radiology and an ability to effectively use varied types of diagnostic equipment (i.e. x-ray machine) to produce quality images for diagnosis of the patient by a radiologist,
- An ability to operate desktop computers in order to produce written documents (word­ processing), send and receive electronic mail and conduct research over the internet.

Key Qualifications

- Successful completion of a certification from an approved Combined Laboratory /X-ray Technologist (CLXT) or Certified Combined Technician (CCT) program.

Labour Market Supplement

The successful incumbent will receive a $11,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $11,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months.   This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

The salary range for this position is from $49.68 per hour to $59.35 per hour (approximately $96,876 - $115,733) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,273.
