The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
Job Information
The Student Case Officer is responsible for the delivery of Student Financial Assistance, not only with student grants, loans and scholarships, but also provides funding to eligible residents to assist with their educational financial needs.
The incumbent works with Education, Culture and Employment staff and other Government of the Northwest Territories departments and outside agencies, such as Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy, Postsecondary Institutions and Aboriginal Governments.
Key Responsibilities
Knowledge of the Student Financial Assistance program as well as a working knowledge of other funding sources such as Aboriginal Human Resources Development Agreement, Income Assistance, Employment Insurance
Strong financial investigation skills, including writing, empathic listening, conflict resolution, providing feedback, questioning, paraphrasing and interpreting verbal and non-verbal information.
Computer skills, including familiarity with window-based programs, word processing, spreadsheet, communications software and basic trouble-shooting.
Client service orientated including valuing diversity, treating all clients fairly and equally, being flexible and maintaining confidentiality.
Key Qualifications
A Diploma in social sciences, public administration, business administration and a minimum of 2 years¿ experience in a related field

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $47.40 to $56.61 per hour (approximately $92,430 - $110,390.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
