Job Information
The Tourism Development Officer is responsible for supporting tourism growth in the South Slave Region through the delivery of tourism development programs, marketing initiatives, and advisory services to businesses, communities, and Indigenous organizations. The position administers tourism grants and contributions, carries out licensing and compliance duties under the NWT Tourism Act, and coordinates regional skills training, outreach, and community¿based tourism planning. Working closely with regional partners and stakeholders, the incumbent contributes to strengthening the tourism sector and enhancing economic opportunities across the region.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with tourism and related legislation
- Knowledge of strategic planning methods
- Experience in consulting with, and advising, small businesses.
- Specialized knowledge of tourism trends, development and marketing, as well as tourism research methodology at a seasoned level.
Typically attained by;
Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Tourism, Three years related experience, Class 5 Drivers License is required
Equivalencies may include;
Diploma in Business or Resource Management, and fours years of directly related experience, Class 5 Drivers License is required

The salary range for this position is from $52.00 per hour to $62.09 per hour (approximately $101,400 - $121,076.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,662
