Department Information
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
Job Information
The Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking a Procurement Specialist to be part of the Procurement Shared Services Team in providing professional and valued added services in the procurement of goods and services on behalf of Departments, Boards and Agencies throughout the GNWT, along with providing tendering, contracting, contract administration and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Consults and maintains effective communications and working relationships with client departments, boards and agencies in providing professional procurement services on their behalf.
- Plans, organizes and conducts professional procurement services of a diverse range of goods and services on behalf of various client departments, boards, agencies and community governments in a procurement shared services environment.
- Develops and maintains effective communications and working relationships with users and suppliers.
- Works closely with department staff to assist in planning, developing and implementing methods and systems for improving operational efficiency in all areas of supply chain management/logistics activities that are provided to client departments, boards and agencies.
Key Qualifications
- Progressive experience (2-3 years) in supply chain management, procurement, contract management and administration in the public or private sector, combines with a Diploma in Commerce or Business, or course work through the Purchasing Management Association of Canada - PMAC to a Level 2 status or equivalent level with the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing - NIGP.
Equivalencies
- 3 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, procurement, contract management and administration in the public or private sector, combined with post-secondary Certificate in a relevant field.
- All other equivalencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Relevant fields of education can include, but are not limited to:
- Commerce
- Business Administration
- Supply Chain Management

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $ 49.68 per hour to $ 59.35 per hour (approximately $ 96,876 - $ 115,733) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
