Job Information
The Community Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides comprehensive nursing care to residents of Fort McPherson in accordance with Northwest Territories and Canadian legislation, professional nursing standards, and clinical practice guidelines. Working within the mission and procedures of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), the LPN supports individuals across the lifespan by protecting, restoring, and maintaining health, and providing end of life care when required. Using primary health care principles, the LPN delivers preventive, curative, maintenance, and comfort focused nursing care, while also promoting community wellness through health promotion, screening, early intervention, and education for clients and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in the community setting to assist clients in achieving optimum health and quality of life in situations of chronic disease, acute illness, and injury or through the process of dying, using basic and advanced nursing knowledge and skills in one or more specialty areas, including wound care, palliative care, chronic illness and communicable diseases.
- Participate in the ongoing development, delivery, evaluation and improvement of Community Health programs and services.
- Perform administrative functions that contribute to the effective functioning of the Community Health Program.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
The successful completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate or Diploma, and at least 2 years of recent, community health LPN nursing experience is preferred.
Must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN), and possess a Class 5 driver's license.

Labour Market Supplement
The successful incumbent will receive a $12,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $12,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Salary Information
The salary for this position starts at $45.34 per hour (approximately $88,413. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $20,619.
