Department Information
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information
The Project Officer, Civil, is located in Yellowknife, and reports to the Manager, Infrastructure & Planning. This position provides planning, design and management for the delivery of airport civil projects, to effectively and efficiently manage the overall integrity of both building and airfield infrastructure at the 27 airports owned and operated by GNWT.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
- Knowledge of airport planning, airport operations, safety regulations and zoning requirements.
- Knowledge of airport and aviation terminology, and northern air transportation facilities.
- Knowledge of aircraft characteristics and performance, air carrier operations and their services.
- Knowledge of engineering management practices and project planning.
- Ability to develop and analyze short- and long-term construction projects, as well as to manage complex construction projects throughout all stages of planning, development and completion.
Typically attained by.
Completion of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with three (3) years of relevant experience and one (1) year of experience specifically related to airports.
Equivalencies.
Diploma in Civil Engineering with five (5) years of relevant experience and one (1) year of experience specifically related to airports.
Additional Requirements.
- A Class 5 NWT Driver's License is required for this position.
- An Airside Vehicle Operators Permit, which may be obtained following appointment.
- Registration with the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association for Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG) within 90 days of hire is required, with flexibility for international registrants.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $59.62 per hour to $71.22 per hour (approximately $116,259 - $138,879.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
