Department Information
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information
The Senior Advisor, Energy Consultation and Partnerships (Senior Advisor) provides strategic advice, guidance, and information on government and energy partnerships, and Indigenous relations and potential impacts to Indigenous relations, and funding opportunities to the Director of Energy, Major Projects with a focus on the Taltson Expansion Project, and other assigned projects as required.
The Senior Advisor is the lead contact with officials from Indigenous government and Indigenous organizations in setting up meetings, negotiating agenda items, developing meeting summaries and maintaining the engagement and consultation records.
The Senior Advisor is responsible for developing communications, engagement plans, and Indigenous/Aboriginal consultation plans, briefing notes, information items, and assists in developing presentations for senior management, including the Assistant Deputy Minister, the Deputy Minister and the Minister.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
- Coordinates and prepares for intergovernmental or interorganizational meetings, including developing detailed agendas, presentations, briefing materials, and meeting materials.
- Supports and leads collaboration efforts with external parties to explain project purpose, intent, structure, and strategic direction.
- Ensures that all Indigenous governments, Indigenous organizations, and stakeholders, impacted and interested, are given the opportunity to participate in engagement on assigned projects.
- Documents and tracks public and Indigenous feedback and provides the Director, and other senior leadership within the department with collected data to determine how and to what extent feedback can be incorporated into the planning process.
- Provides subject matter expertise and applies cultural competency to ensure that key considerations are identified, evaluated, and meaningfully incorporated into the decision-making process.
- Leads project coordination logistics.
- Demonstrates tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and discretion to develop and maintain positive and mutually beneficial intergovernmental and interdepartmental relationships.
Typically attained by.
A bachelor's degree in communication management, business management, public administration, political science, or a related field with 3 years of experience in intergovernmental affairs, secretariat functions, Indigenous government and Indigenous organizations administration and governance.
Equivalencies.
A diploma in communication management, business management, public administration, political science, or a related field with 5 years of experience in intergovernmental affairs, secretariat functions, Indigenous government and Indigenous organizations administration and governance.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $59.62 per hour to $71.22 per hour (approximately $116,259 - $138,879.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
