Job Information
As the Information and Privacy Analyst, you report to the GNWT Access and Privacy Officer. You provide expert analysis, advice, and operational support on access to information and protection of privacy matters under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (ATIPP) Act. Working within a centralized/shared service model, this role supports Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) departments, boards, agencies, and other public bodies to ensure consistent, fair, and effective administration of access and privacy obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and coordinate formal access to information requests on behalf of GNWT departments and the NWT Housing Corporation.
- Provide advice and support to departments, boards, agencies, and other public bodies on access to information and privacy obligations under the ATIPP Act.
- Assist in privacy reviews and broader protection of privacy matters, including interpretation of legislation.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of GNWT-wide policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures related to access and privacy.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of access and privacy training to build organizational capacity across the GNWT.
- Assess risks related to access and privacy matters and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Exercise discretion when handling sensitive information and balancing competing priorities.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of access to information and privacy legislation, policies, and government administrative processes.
- Understanding of legislation governing the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess risk and provide sound, practical recommendations.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, information management, business, or a related discipline (political science, public policy, information systems, business administration) with two (2) years of experience in a policy, legislative, or program setting.
- Knowledge of access and privacy legislation with knowledge of the NWT ATIPP Act considered an asset

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $49.68 per hour to $59.35 per hour (approximately $96,876 - $115,733) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
