The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
Job Information
The Department of Finance is seeking a Labour Relations Coordinator to support the positive employer, employee and union relationships by coordinating and assisting with grievances, arbitration files, Human Rights complaints, requests for outside activities, and exclusions from the bargaining unit. Reporting to the Manager of Negotiations and Compensation, the position provides administrative and operational support by coordinating labour relations files and processes, supporting advice and adjudication in accordance with legislation, policies, and employment contracts, and contributing to timely and reliable recommendations related to employment contract administration, revision, and negotiation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Labour Relations by coordinating, reviewing, processing and maintain Labour Relations requests.
- Assisting with collective bargaining preparations.
- Working with Finance Managers, Director and Policy Officers, and department representatives in the development of Labour Relations and Employee Relations Policies.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of Labour Relations training for managers and human resource practitioners.
Key Qualifications
- A relevant Diploma coupled with 2 years of experience in Human Resources.
Equivalencies
- A relevant Certificate coupled with 3 years of experience in Human Resources.
- All other equivalences will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Relevant education programs can include but are not limited to:
- Business Administration

- Psychology
- Employment Law

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $47.40 per hour to $56.61 per hour (approximately $92,430 - $110,390) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
