The Aurora Research Institute (ARI), the research division of Aurora College, aims to improve local quality of life by applying scientific, technological, and Indigenous knowledge to solve northern problems. As a division of Aurora College, its mission is to develop northern society through excellence in education, training, and research that is culturally sensitive and responsive to the people it serves.
The Manager of the North Slave Research Centre in Yellowknife will be responsible for leading and supporting applied scientific research in the Northwest Territories, with specific focus in the North Slave region. The incumbent will support external researchers, foster partnerships, and advance opportunities for northern communities. The incumbent will oversee the operations of the North Slave Research Centre and helps shape future research and research infrastructure for the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance for the further development of the North Slave Research Centre and its research initiatives.
- Drive innovative, impactful research that addresses northern priorities and opportunities.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with communities, governments, universities, and organizations around the world.
- Secure funding and lead strategic projects that create meaningful outcomes.
- Inspire scientific curiosity, support learning opportunities, and promote research excellence across the North.
Qualifications & Experience
- PhD in Natural, Social, or Physical Sciences with 3-5 years of experience in research project management and 3 years of successful experience securing funding for research initiatives.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience working in cross-cultural environments and knowledge of Northern Canada would be an asset.
Equivalences:
A Master¿s Degree in Natural, Social or Physical Sciences with 4 years practical research experience, 3 years in research project management, and 3 years fundraising for research projects.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $59.62 per hour to $71.22 per hour (approximately $116,259 - $138,879.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
