Job Information

We are seeking a Sonographer to join the Diagnostic Imaging team at the Inuvik Regional Hospital (IRH) in Inuvik, NT. 


Reporting to the Regional Manager, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging, the Sonographer works closely with the Team Lead, Diagnostic Imaging and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services for patients across the Beaufort Delta Region and surrounding communities. The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound examinations for adult and pediatric patients, including obstetrical, abdominal, pelvic, vascular, breast, cardiac, and other diagnostic imaging procedures. Working independently with remote Radiologist support, the incumbent is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality images to support timely diagnosis and patient care. The role also requires maintaining patient privacy, professionalism, and compassionate care during sensitive or invasive examinations.

Key Responsibilities
-   Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and produce high-quality images for interpretation by Radiologists. 
-   Review patient history and explain procedures to patients before examinations. 
-   Document examinations and enter information into RIS and PACS systems. 
-   Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality during all procedures. 
-   Work collaboratively with Physicians, Radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. 
 

Key Qualifications
-   Knowledge of ultrasound anatomy, physiology, and pathology. 
-   Ability to perform and interpret a broad range of sonographic examinations. 
-   Ability to operate RIS and PACS systems. 
-   Ability to provide compassionate and culturally safe patient care.

To be successful in this role, typically, the above qualifications would be attained:
 Through the successful completion of a Canadian Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program from an accredited facility, plus 2 years of related experience including first, second and third trimester obstetrical exams.

Labour Market Supplement

The successful incumbent will receive a $11,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $11,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months.   This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.  

Job Share Position

This Job Opening could also be considered for a six (6) Weeks Job Share position.

The salary range for this position is from $54.44 per hour to $65.03 per hour (approximately $106,158 - $126,809) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,304.
