Job Information
The Manager, Child and Family Services is responsible and accountable for ensuring a wide range of services provided by Community Social Workers meets the needs of client groups and the public in accordance with the appropriate legislation, regulations, standards and policies.
Not only does the incumbent provides program management of Child Protection Services, Foster Care Services, Adoption Services, Family Preservation Services and Adult Services within the Tlicho Region but they also oversee a staffing group of 25+ indirect and direct reports.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of theories, principles and practices of professional social work with particular emphasis on assessment techniques, family systems, separation, loss and grieving, the impact of colonization particularly surrounding the residential school legacy, child and youth development and how these affects the placement and the dynamics of child protection.
- Knowledge of the NWT Child and Family Services Act, Adoptions Act and Aboriginal Custom Adoptions Recognition Act.
- Ability to supervisor, administer, manager and provide effective and efficient leadership
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions and develop and implement child protection related programing.
- Ability to effectively lead and motivate both professional and non-professional staff, including those who have accountability to other employers or to professional associations.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with 5 years of direct experience as a child and family social worker including 2 years of direct experience managing child and family services (CFS) programs.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $65.25 per hour to $77.95 per hour (approximately $127,238 - $152,003.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $6,318.
