Join the Department of Education, Culture and Employment in a leadership role shaping infrastructure across the Northwest Territories. As Manager, Capital Planning, you will oversee major capital projects, strategic infrastructure planning, and facility investments that support schools, cultural spaces, and public services across the NWT.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and management of ECE's infrastructure portfolio valued at over $1.4 billion
- Oversee capital budgets, financial reporting, and multi-year infrastructure projects
- Manage facility planning, asset lifecycle management, and infrastructure standards
- Collaborate with GNWT departments, Indigenous governments, education authorities, and community stakeholders
- Supervise consultants, contractors, and staff while ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Travel to communities across the NWT to support project planning and site assessments
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in architecture, engineering, project management, business, or other directly related field and 5 years of relevant experience including 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience.
- Strong project management, strategic planning, and financial management skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
Equivalencies:
- Other directly related field= construction management, quantity surveying/cost estimating or facilities management
- Relevant experience = managing or coordinating capital projects, leading project teams, preparing or reviewing project plans, overseeing facility operations, conducting risk assessments or managing construction contracts.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $65.25 per hour to $77.95 per hour (approximately $127,238 - $152,003.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
