The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. Job Information
The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a Manager of Cybersecurity Operations to lead and strengthen enterprise-wide security operations and protect critical IT infrastructure and information.
This role plays a key part in ensuring effective monitoring, detection, and response to cybersecurity threats across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, while supporting secure and reliable public services.
This position also involves leading a team of cybersecurity analysts, managing vendor relationships (including managed security service providers), and aligning operations with organizational security strategies and policies
Please note: This is an in-person position based in Yellowknife.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage cybersecurity operations, including monitoring, alerting, and incident triage across GNWT systems
- Coordinate and execute incident detection, response, containment, and recovery activities
- Manage vulnerability and threat detection programs, including scans, remediation, and threat intelligence monitoring
- Oversee and optimize security infrastructure and tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, logging and monitoring systems)
- Provide operational reporting, metrics, and support for compliance, audits, and decision-making processes
Key Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field and 5 years of experience in cybersecurity operations or IT security, including experience with IT Infrastructure (Networking, Identity Management, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure security) and endpoint security, including 1 year of experience in a managerial or team leadership role involving IT audit, risk management, incident response, or security operations.
Equivalencies:
- A University/College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field and 7 years of experience in cybersecurity operations or IT security, including experience with IT Infrastructure (Networking, Identity Management, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure security) and endpoint security, including 1 year of experience in a managerial or team leadership role involving IT audit, risk management, incident response, or security operations.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field and 3 years of experience in cybersecurity operations or IT security, including experience with IT Infrastructure (Networking, Identity Management, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure security) and endpoint security, including 1 year of experience in a managerial or team leadership role involving IT audit, risk management, incident response, or security operations.
- Related fields of education may include Computer Engineering and Technology Management with a hands-on IT risk/cybersecurity focus.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $65.25 per hour to $77.95 per hour (approximately $127,238 - $152,003.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
