Job Information
The Rehabilitation Assistant (RA) supports the Rehabilitation Department within the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) by assisting Physiotherapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) in delivering safe and effective rehabilitation services. The RA performs both therapeutic and clerical tasks under supervision and works with patients across all age groups, including pediatrics and geriatrics.
The NTHSSA provides comprehensive health and social services across the Northwest Territories, serving about 43,000 people over a large geographic area. In the Fort Smith region, services are delivered to approximately 2,500 residents through a health facility and a long-term care facility.
The RA works directly under the Regional Manager of Allied Health Services and supports inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care clients. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care as assigned, coordinating with the rehabilitation team, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring services are delivered within their scope of practice. While supervised by rehabilitation professionals, the RA is accountable for their own performance and must follow NTHSSA policies and national standards.
Key Qualifications:
- Assists in the implementation of PT, OT and SLP treatment plans, in both hospital, school, and homecare settings, by providing therapeutic services to patients under the direction of the PT, OT, or SLP.
- Perform administrative duties.
- Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.
Key Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized community college physiotherapy/occupational therapy assistant program.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $37.90 per hour to $45.27 per hour (approximately $73,905 - $88,276) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $7,100.
