Key Responsibilities

The Child and Youth Counsellor (CYC) plays a crucial role in supporting children and youth with complex mental health needs and their families, helping them thrive in their homes, schools, and local communities. The CYC is responsible for implementing specialized assessments and therapeutic programs in various daily life settings for children and youth.

This position is based in Inuvik, where the CYC reports to the Regional Clinical Supervisor of Community Wellness and Support Services. The incumbent may be required to support other regional communities, either virtually or through travel.

As part of the community counseling team, the CYC provides direct therapeutic services to children, youth, and families. During the school year, the CYC may hold office hours in schools but will also offer services in various community locations, such as the Community Counseling Program office, family homes, and other venues within the community.

Key Qualifications

A Masters degree in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling (Not Human Ecology, Public Health, Therapeutic Recreation, Child and Youth Care) and one year of relevant experience.

Labour Market Supplement

The successful incumbent will receive a $11,000 supplement upon hire and an additional $11,000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.
