Department Information
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.

Job Information
SCOPE
This position is located Inuvik, this position reports to the Airport Manager. The Airport/Marine Electrician organizes and implements a planned program of maintenance and repair for all electrical systems, equipment and components at the seven Inuvik region airports and the two Dempster Highway ferries.
The airport equipment referred to includes:
- High and low intensity approach lights
- Visual flight approach systems
- Visual flight approach systems
- High-Voltage edge lights and airside lighting
- Airport groundside lighting and electric gate components
- Airport emergency power generation systems
- High-voltage switch gear
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
A Journeyperson Electrical Certificate and Inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate with 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Electrician.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A Class 5 driver's license
An Airside Vehicle Operators Permit within three months of hire.

Salary Information
The salary for this position starts at $47.40 per hour (approximately $98,592. per annum) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $14,304.
